SeineYonne is an agricultural cooperative founded in 2008.
It counts 148,263 acres of wheat, 91,429 acres of barley, and 84,015 acres of rapeseed.
They used WeWeb to build a web-app that helps their teams report yields data for every parcels they manage.
Built with
Ludovic Renault
In the past, representatives would visit each parcel, write down relevant information and log it manually into a system back at HQ.
This process was inefficient and prone to human error.
In 2020, their Chief Information Officer, Ludovic Renault, set out to change that.
He started looking for ways he could develop an internal tool for data reporting.
Ludovic turned to no-code because he had a hard time finding a front-end developer capable of coding the web-app they needed.
He started with a stack of Bubble + Airtable but soon encountered problems.
The web-app built with Bubble and Airtable was unsatisfactory for both SeineYonne's tech team and end-users.
Performance
Users were unhappy because the app was too slow.
It caused delays that created errors in the database. The app was supposed to save them time but it was having the opposite effect.
Autonomy
Nobody on the team was comfortable using Bubble.
They found it hard to work with and often needed external support from freelancers, slowing down things further.
Costs
The downside of relying on freelancers meant that, every time they wanted to make an improvement, it was hard to predict how long it would take and how much it would cost.
01
In order to find a solution to these problems, Ludovic tried and reviewed a number of no-code platforms (Bubble, DronaHQ, Retool, StackerHQ, Softr)
02
He talked to web agencies, asked them for their opinion on the best solutions to build web-apps with no-code, and evaluated whether they could do the job for him.
03
He hired a new Bubble expert to debug the existing tool and improve its performance. At that point, a lot of the app had to be re-built from scratch.
At the same time, Ludovic talked to DronaHQ and WeWeb.
He asked both teams to build a proof-of-concept web-app (POC) for SeineYonne.
Ludovic evaluated each solution against a clear set of criteria
Feature Coverage
Does the tool have the features SeineYonne needs?
Performance
Does the POC perform well? Is the database updated correctly?
Ease of Use
How easy is it to use? Will his team be autonomous?
Sustainability
Is the team behind the solution capable and reliable?
The second version of the Bubble app was still short in performance and autonomy continued to be an issue while DronaHQ was short on features.
Neither felt like the perfect fit for the team.
WeWeb satisfied all four criteria but won first and foremost because the end users at SeineYonne were very happy with the new version of the web-app.
Why were they happy?
Because the app was fast and reliable. No more lagging and data conflicts.
To make things even sweeter, WeWeb had all the features SeineYonne needed, Ludovic trusted the WeWeb team and his own team was autonomous in a matter of days.
Ludovic found that hiring an agency was too expensive and didn’t solve the autonomy issue of his team.
Results
Speed
The new FarmPilot web-app was delivered on time.

Users gained in productivity – mission accomplished for Ludovic!
Scalable
SeineYonne are no longer reliant on Airtable. They can connect any external backend and add multiple data sources in WeWeb.
Autonomy
The SeineYonne team can deploy weekly improvements without having to hire a new developer, agency or freelancer.
